Orientation Day...

Feb 03, 2006 17:27

So this morning went well. I have my own personal advisor who I meet next week, I figured out the layout of the campus and i have my spanish test eeeearly monday AM. What else... you have to pay something little to use the gym, but they say it´s cheap. I also can use the computers there (MOST IMPORTANT!!!) anytime, so that´ll mean that I can update more and take my time more. Then what else... SO I have spanish classes next week 9-2:30 everyday, and then I imagine I´ll have lunch with people, do internet, and then maybe night plans? we´ll see. Anyway, after that, I can sit in on any class I want and I have a month to figure out which I want to take! Not too bad! Also there are two saturdays where they offer trips around the nearby countryside to see famous things. So I´m gonna go on those I think.

Anyway, I met some people today... But many of them were from America and I´m just not interested in Americans, you know? I can always meet americans. But they were all so relieved to meet me and talk me up in English and have me explain what was going on (I spoke the best spanish there, as far as I could tell). But at least I met one girl from Germany who wants to work out with me and climb moutains. So that´s cool. Malena. But I also speak much better than her so I don´t think we´ll be in the same class next week. I want to find people of my level.

This one guy from Hungary was talking to me at the beginning, and I spoke to him for awhile, but then realized that he was monopolizing me, and I have to meet more people! Also, I knew I didn´t want to make any more male friends since they´re such problems. So after that I avoided him. Aren´t I a good girlfriend?? ;)

But the first days are crucial cause you can fall in with the wrong people anyway, so I tried to play it very open and talk to a lot of people. we´ll see what happens.

Also I had lunch with my cousin Blanca and her husband Julian who is a little crazy (I really think he has ADD or something, he can´t sit still!) and he was so nice to me. He offerred to let me use the computer at his work here in Pamplona anytime I wanted when he was in town because it´s free. I just can´t get over how nice my whole family is here!

And miguel... My cousin Miguel is just the sweetest thing in the world. I had dinner with him and his roomates yesterday and we also walked around the old part of the city... So sweet. Every time I´ve been out with him he walks me in the building and up until my very floor. As if something might happen to me. This weekend I go with him to visit the rest of his family in Fuenterabbia so I might not be able to post. Forgive me!

Also last night I visited the Uncle I have here on my mother´s side and they have two sons around my age and I gave them both my number so I might end up going out with them sometime too. it´s really crazy cause I have so many people here.

Yet somehow I´m still scared that I will end up here with nothing to do. I don´t know why. I´m just scared (as I always am) that I won´t make friends. It think it´s just a permanent fear of mine that I can´t get rid of. Silly, but... I think it´s the part of St. As that will always be with me. Fear of social situations.

Anyway. I gotta go, cause I´m getting in a car soon to Fuenterabbia. Woohoo!!!

I´ll take a lot of pictures, ok? Promise.

Oh. And I got to call Andrew last night. And it was magnificent. Hence the really really really good mood. :D

Mwah!
