Heh. Just caught the SGU premiere. Not bad! Haven't been following the SGU news as much, so was pleasantly surprised by the blend of new/changed situations, familiar Stargate/Ancient backstory and SG1 cameos - tho I missed Teal'c and the whole SGA gang. Hopefully the movies can help bridge the gap between SGA's season finale and SGU, and link in more of our favourite crew and storylines as appropriate. Overall, there's definitely potential with this more extreme situation and varied cast. Here's hoping the writers can balance out both plot and character development; and learn from some of the past SG1 and Atlantis mistakes.
So... couple of quick thoughts on the pilot. I thought the Ancient communication devices were a nice touch to maintain ties with folks back home. Look forward to real time (aka NOT flashback!) Earth scenes in upcoming episodes plus some light on Rush's ulterior motives. (And how cool is that to have a "leader" who's not quite who he seems? Did he even get General O'Neill's approval - and why is Colonel Young letting him get away with it?) Also, anyone else think there's more to those
kinos than meets the eye? I hope this gets fleshed out to further the Ancient storylines. Lastly, did anyone catch who those enemies were? The ships looked like hybrid Goa'uld Ha'taks - but I could be completely mistaken here.
