Good old Fashioned Regionalism
In some strange American City, I normally ask cab drivers or hotel clerks or waitresses strange questions. What really interests me are local gun laws. Can I carry a concealed weapon and , if so under what circumstances? What is the waiting period for a Tommy Gun? Could I buy a Glock 17 if I were recently divorced or fired from my job? I have learned that for example, that the blind can legally hunt in Michigan and Texas. In most states you have to be with someone who is sighted, but in Michigan they are allowed to go at it alone. How do they find what they just shot? How do they get it home? Are the Michigan blind allowed to drive as well. I don't want a gun myself, It is just the this country is becoming so homogeneous that I am reassured by the charming touches of regionalism.
