You know, for years at this point, I have been using your insta-reactions as indicators of whether or not I should watch, drink while watching, or skip. I'm more grateful than I can say! So, yeah, skipping. Possibly forever. (I reserve the right to go back on this if a Soulless!Sam-type thing happens later this season.)

Normally when people used to say that sort of thing I'd always be like "NOOOO IT WILL BE OKAY WATCH ANYWAY!!!" but honestly I'm not sure it's worth it to watch it at the moment. Probably wait a bit and see how it pans out and watch it all in a lump later when you can just zip through the whole season and not drag it out if it's horrible, you know? I will still watch every week because I am cold enough towards SPN at this point that it isn't twisting the knife anymore, yet there is still a little spark of hope in my soul that it will turn out okay or they will do something that makes it a worthwhile use of my time to watch ( ... )

Thank you for elaborating! I honestly didn't expect any better, but I really do appreciate that I can rest secure in the knowledge that not-watching is the way to go, at least for a while. My only possible reason for watching was if the Sam/Amelia thing was somehow surprisingly good, but it sounds like that's not even a concern, so, you know. Question answered. :)

Apparently Amelia is the vet, who I legit hated without even realizing she had anything to do with anyone. She like bullied Sam into keeping this dog he hit with his car, which is fucking insane and not something any vet worth their salt would ever do.

I did get that she was the girlfriend (possibly because I was pretty spoiled), but I absolutely did not understand the weird dialogue where she made him keep the dog, or where she implied that he hit the dog because he was a bad person. What? Maybe it's one of those things that will make sense later on, like he was so fucked up over losing Dean that he was drunk and on PCP and getting a blowjob from a hooker while he was driving and hit the dog. Or something equally out of character.

I'm with on on not caring enough to really get upset about all the OOC stuff. It's sort of equally sad and relief-inducing that I'm more of a casual viewer than anything. mementis was just saying yesterday that the sum of fanon--especially the fic that was written during the first two or three seasons--was more important to her than the actual show, and I think that's been true for me for a long time. Hello, my name is chemm80 and I'm a casual viewer of SPN.

Me too. *raises hand*
It is just a totally different show. And I really should start thinking of myself as a casual viewer now, because my long-term investment is still making me very depressed when I watch now. Just gotten worse and worse since S4. And hello, that was years ago! The show has been (o_0) for me longer than it was ever actually good.

And OMG the vet! That completely bonkers "Maybe you're not such a great guy since you ran over the dog with your car and all" bullshit. WTF? SRSLY. Who the fuck says that? All I could think was, wow, that is some seriously bad and lazy writing.

I find I enjoy the show a lot more when I just sit back and enjoy the pretty and the humor and do my best to turn off the part of brain that wants to analyze character development, story, and dialogue choices. That can be difficult, though, because I become fannish about shows almost entirely based on the characters, beyond anything else. It's kind of painful to watch when they twist the ones we love around in odd ways.

Yes. It's not just that it's the wrong thing for her to say to this man she just met, the wrong thing to do for a person in her position; the words themselves don't even make sense.
