*sigh* I'm having one of those days...and this poem just makes me want to cry. It's very beautiful.
My poet reccs today are Tagore and Michael Ondaatje. I've not read every scrap they've both written but I've read lots and have always loved their work.
Oh, but please don't be sad! But I can understand about "one of those days" and hopes it turns around and becomes "one of those good days". In the mean time best wishes in your direction. And I'm very glad you liked the poem. It's a sad poem yes, but it has a beauty that just lingers with me.
I've read "The English Patient" and liked it very much (Especially how Lazlo carried with him Herodotus, and annotated these stories. He has renounced identity and nationality - but he is carrying history with him. That truly fascinated me). But I have no experience with Tagore - so they are both noted down! Thank you. :)
Oo - thank you! She uses some beautiful imagery. I love how the flowers open at the same time as the poem, and how this creates a very lovely conjunction. :) She is hear by bookmarked!
Yay for lapsang! It's without a doubt my favorite tea.
And yay for Cristopher Logue! I love War Music! All his bloody, dramatic Greeks caught up in terrible combat - all while being beautiful and terrible at the same time.
I also love a man who writes on his own dust jacket that he has done poetry, articles and a porn novel.
I love love love poetry. I understand full what you mean when you say that sometimes you just need to read potry.
This is a translation from Pushkin, Autumn was his favourite season:
"The flowers of autumn days Are sweeter than the firsts of plains. For they awaken an impression, That’s strong, although it may be sad, Just as the pain of separation Is stronger than the sweet of date."

Do you know if anyone's set that to music? I'd love to sing it.
