For the second or third time in my life, the science of Mikeynomics is vindicated. I remember in the late 80's when the market went through a "correction" and all the people I went to college with who'd beenw orking their asses off for jobs in ther financial sector or who had gone for professional careers but invested heavily in the stock market, all were suddenly just as broke as me, who had been working in theatre and getting drunk/laid/arrested (one of those is not true). It seems to be happening again wherein my philsophy of never having enough money leftover to invest in the stockmarket or a home yet again holds true. I know a lot of people who've lost a lot of money over the past few years - and I find myself...even...
I refer once again to the parable of the Ant and the Grasshopper. The Ant works hard all summer, storing food for the lean winter months ahead, while the grasshopper spends his summer laughing, drinking, playing his fiddle and a little poker on the weekends. Fall comes and as the first leaves start to fall of the trees, they both get hit by a bus. Who lived a better life?
FYI - In this parable, the bus is George Bush and it took 8 years to really mash us all up good. Anyhow, if we all survive the Bus, be sure to play the fiddle once in awhile too.
