Shortly after I posted this, I wasted an hour and a half (roughly) going to the local sporting goods stores to see what they had. There were pitifully few floor models, a lot of missing price tags, and no helpful salespeople on the floor to help me out. I saw a bench and power tower that would meet my needs (except it has a leg extension unit on the bench)... the prices were good, but I couldn't get any questions answered.
Once I had returned home, I went online and checked some of the equipment I had seen, and a few other models. Online, I could see the specs. Online, I could compare to other models directly. It is like they expect us all to have mobile devices so that we can look this stuff up instead of having clerks around.
Well... I bought some equipment online. I have met my needs for #1, #4 and #5 (it came with, but not integrated into, the bench). I have also picked up a storage shelf that will hold most of my dumbbells. I can worry about my plates and the home gym later. To be honest, the home gym I'm looking at will cost as much as everything else I bought today, so it can wait until much later this year or early into 2016.
