In April, I started the process of refinancing the original mortgage on my house. On Tuesday, May 19 I signed closing papers for the refinanced mortgage with a new lender. Today -- this evening, in fact -- the process concluded and my original mortgage was paid off by the new lenders.
In other news, I had my final followup appointment with my surgeon yesterday. Everything looks good. They recommend that I take it easy on stairs, but I'm not completely barred from taking them. It's just a matter of some arthritis in the knee that could cause some discomfort if I overdo things.
Originally, there was a plan that I would be moved back upstairs into an office with Arthur T. again. Today I got news that many people from Building 1 would be moving into Building 2 (I work in Building 2). In order to make room for them, a lot of people were being moved around, and somehow I'm being allowed to keep the cushy private office on the ground floor for now. Even stranger, this decision was made without asking me about my knee and its ability to handle stairs.
This has been a very interesting week so far.
