They've brought back one of the employees they laid off last week. It was, in fact, the same one that I had shared an office with for so long. His first day back was today.
The Kings clobbered the Oilers last night, 8-2, in a game that got so far out of reach that the Kings stopped celebrating their goals in the third period. Despite the lopsided score, there were no stupid attempts to "send a message for next time" by picking fights. The Oilers don't have a defensive structure that's worth a damn, and they left their two goalies out to dry. Ben Scrivens started and let in 5, and they had an ECHL level goalie named Tyler Bunz backing him up; Bunz made his NHL debut letting in 3 more in the final period. The win managed to put the Kings back into a playoff spot, but only barely.
I'm having knee surgery in 17 days. I'm also in the middle of refinancing my mortgage. It's a busy, busy time.
Oh, and it's Masters Tournament season again. Since I have no fascination with golf or egg salad sandwiches, this just means more traffic on the roads to me.
LiveJournal has sent out an e-mail asking users to invite back old friends who used to use the service but left. Frankly, I know why many of my friends left, and it's going to take more than just asking to get them to come back. I look through my archives and memories, but the sense of community that I felt here when I was more active 10 years ago is what's missing. We've all posted less and been disappointed that there isn't so much to read here anymore. There's not enough traffic to bother with my guessing games of the past. I'm a permanent member, so I've never tried to go completely silent here. Still, I've been far less active since I changed jobs and moved to Georgia nine years ago, and even less active the last few years in particular. I'm definitely going to try to post more often and hope that maybe someone else will read something I post every once in a while.
