On Sept. 28, my endocrinologist recommended I take a cholesterol diagnostic test (another one), and said that it wouldn't cost me anything.
Well, the followup appointment with a nurse practitioner to discuss the results was on Oct. 25, and that cost me a $50 copayment for the visit. The insurance information is finally in on the labwork for the test, which is evidently out of my insurance coverage network, and the insurance company is saying that $1051.65 or so is "Patient's Responsibility."
I sure hope she wasn't wrong, because that kind of unexpected expense means there'll be no trip to San Diego for me next July.
