Vacation, day 4

May 11, 2009 16:05

I slept in a bit (well, it was late for me) and took off down the road to see a used book store & gaming materials merchant in Delaware that had been recommended to me several months ago. Unfortunately, I got there 2.5 hours or so before it was going to open (stupid Sundays, messing up my plans) and so I got into Fairfax, VA about 5 hours before I expected to be there. I drove around, found Craig's place, had lunch, shopped, drove around some more, sent him a text message to let him know I was in town, and then drove around some more (I'd like to say, "Thank you!" to the random woman in a bikini washing her car in the driveway) until I got a call back from Craig to let me know he'd be home and it would be OK for me to show up. He, his wife, and his 13 month old daughter were excellent hosts, and we had a lot of fun catching up. I also found out that he's got a picture of me in hiking/camping gear from our trip to Devil's Canyon with Squid in 1991, just after our graduation. He's promised to scan it and send it along to me.

At 9 PM, I left there and more or less used the Force to find my way to I-95S so I could head to Ruther Glen, VA for the night. There, I was absolutely unable to get online, which is why I'm giving this report a day late.
