What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Moved to another state because I had a new job at a new company. Got a ticket for a moving violation.

Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I long ago made a new year's resolution to never make another new year's resolution again. It's the only one I've ever managed to keep in my life.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
One person did.

Did anyone close to you die?
Yes.

What countries did you visit?
Just this one.

What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Year-round steady pay and a love life.

What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The months of March and April -- truly hectic. Looking for new work, finding it, and moving.
GenCon and Dragon*Con weekends -- loads of fun. The most truly relaxing times I had this year.
October 13 (Friday) -- getting a 24% raise on my first employee review.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finding a good job.

What was your biggest failure?
Gaining so much weight after the move.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
A few colds, some muscle strains, the usual stuff. One nasty-ass cold/sore-throat/cough that lasted for ages in the late winter.

What was the best thing you bought?
The bookcases I picked up on the big trip to IKEA after I moved.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Joe's, Tonya's, and Joy's.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
David's.

Where did most of your money go?
Moving.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The cons. Moving. Writing again. Clerks II

What song will always remind you of 2006?
I honestly don't know if any one song will specifically remind me of this particular year. Maybe "Georgia On My Mind" will do.

Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Much happier.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercise.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Chasing Dick for work.

How will you be spending New Years?
Probably alone in my new apartment getting some writing done.

Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Joe, but they were pretty much daily conversations about "You wanna go out for dinner tonight?"

Did you fall in love in 2006?
No.

How many one-night stands?
None.

What was your favorite TV program?
Lost (still).

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes.

What was the best book you read?
I'm not sure, because I read a lot of books this year, but most of them were re-reads.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
YouTube.

What did you want and get?
Steadier pay.

What did you want and not get?
Romance.

What was your favorite film of this year?
Clerks II

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I worked. Joe wasn't in the office that day so I went to lunch with Ben and Kishan. I took Joe, Jimmie (and Sarah, I think) and Jen to the Magic Mushroom for pizza & in some cases beer for dinner that Friday.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A good woman, or getting this new job sooner.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Same as it's been for years, except I've had to wear dress slacks and shoes to work at the new job.

What kept you sane?
Getting away from Simulis at last.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Honestly, I don't do much in the way of celebrity worship.

What political issue stirred you the most?
I can't tell you that, because you never know who might be listening anymore or what they'd do if someone were to say something disparaging.

Who did you miss?
My friends in other parts of the country, especially my good friends in and around Houston.

Who was the best new person you met?
Joy, I think.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
I don't have to go to the con just because it's happening.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"I can't drive 55."
