So, in my
September 8th entry I gave a bit of a discussion on my work in the visual novel translation scene. Since that time all three of the projects I've been working on have been successfully released (FSN in early November, Wanko in mid-late November, Brass Restoration today).
Today I want to talk to you a little bit about the last one. You can see the projects info page
here, which has a brief description of the plot, and some sample images from very early scripts. My personal favorite of the samples is the choice point between "Good morning kiss" and "Good morning forehead crusher" (a true classic), which I've reproduced for you here:
Furthermore, unique among the three projects I worked on, Brass Restoration is completely and legally free, so you can download and play it without worrying about any moral or ethical qualms. Additionally, it lacks explicit sexual content (which many games of this nature possess), so if you would ordinarily be turned off by that, and looking for an excuse to try out the medium, I would say Brass Restoration would be a pretty decent introduction, as it's longer, and more involved, than many of the other free translated games or demos.
So swing by the
release page and check it out. It's pretty small ~50MB, and the system requirements to run it are rock bottom, so that shouldn't be an excuse for anyone.
Final words, as it's a free game, the graphics and music are clearly not commercial level in quality, so you won't be seeing anything spectacular in terms of visuals or audio, but BR does deliver on the comedy, and the drama. It's also quite lengthy, a full 100% playthrough will definitely take you a couple of days, unless you're doing some sort of a serious marathon. I guess what I want to say is that since I had a decent role in helping this along, I'd sort of like it if my friends could give it a try, and hopefully appreciate something I helped work on and enjoyed, and IMO it's definitely worth it.
I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on it after you've played it as well. :3
