May Day fun

Well, I didn't do anything traditional for May Day. We did have a home inspection for the house we're planning to purchase on the 21st. That went pretty well. Of course, there are things to fix. There are always things to fix, even to new construction (according to one of the inspectors). Nothing major that will make us not want it, or maybe more importantly, that will make the bank not give us a mortgage. They did notice a few slow drains, and recommended that we have a plumber come out with a camera and make sure there was nothing clogging the line from the house to the sewer line, as that repair would cost somewhere from $2k to $8k. All clear, and the plumber was awesome. He shares our loathing for stupid people, and he plays WoW. I think he'll be our plumber if we ever need it.

We also went to our first Tigers game of the year. Last year we had been parking on John R, but toward the end of the season there had been break-ins within a few cars of us. We decided to try parking at the Greektown Casino, which we heard was free or could get validated. They must have gotten tired of people going to sporting events gamble a dollar and get validation, because we had to pay $10 up front. The did tell us we could get a free parking card. Anyway, we popped in because we were early, and Ian had a buck so I stopped over a slot machine. I wound up cashing out with $65. We decided that a 650% return was good enough, and treated ourselves to a bunch of ballpark food that we usually find to be too expensive. That included a cup of hot chocolate with a take-home mug. It was cold! There was a rain delay, which we sat in a little of the ending sprinkles, but then there was just a chilly wind, and my jacket wasn't quite warm enough. It was fun, though we lost. There was a late rally that made the end of the game exciting.

I start my new job at the doctor's office on Monday, which is exciting, especially since I think all the office staff gets trained to take x-rays, which sounds cool.
