Do I support our troops?

Eddie Vedder was booed, and several people left his show at the opening of his U.S. tour because he spoke out against the war. he was careful to say, though:

"Just to clarify... we support the troops."

...You know, I'm not so sure anymore. I keep hearing of atrocity after atrocity, women killed because they were clutching "unidentified packages", vanloads of people decimated because they were fleeing in terror and our "troops" didn't have the mental fortitude to shoot out the van's tires? Not to mention a choice quote from one of our "boys":

"The Iraqis are sick people and we are the chemotherapy," said Corporal Ryan Dupre. "I am starting to hate this country. Wait till I get hold of a friggin' Iraqi. No, I won't get hold of one. I'll just kill him."

There were two British soldiers that said "Enough!" They put down their guns and they refused to fight, I definitely support them. The only punishment that they will recieve is up to two years in jail, two years for refusing to cause anymore death. it seems worth it to me. I have been doing some research, trying to find them so that I can write them letters of thanks.

So...do I support our troops over there, killing and maiming? Destroying families, historical buildings, an entire culture? No. No, I don't. I guess if that makes me a pariah even among peace activists, then OK. I want our people home safe, I want them back here NOW and I don't want them to kill anymore people. But I DO NOT support them while they are there, and while they are shedding blood.
