spicy soup with noodles. mmmm.

quick update on what i've been doing/looking forward to/excited about on the gaming scene as of late. i picked up my copy of ff advent children that i had reserved back in early october. me <---- dork. i was the only loser in there on my lunch break. somehow in my mind i expecting a pushing screaming horde of people. anyway, advent children's pretty much what i expected it to be. as a movie alone, i couldn't tell you if it was good or bad. in my mind its so closely tied to the game that you can't really tease them apart.

ffvii is the game that got me to love gaming. anyone else who feels the same way would enjoy the movie simply for its nostalgic value. it's great to see all the old characters in action again, even if it feels as though some of them were simply thrown in to please the fanbase (though caitsith i could have done without...especially the accent). for anyone who hasn't played (more specifically, beaten) ffvii, i think the movie would be lost on them. they'd get the jist of the plot (more or less), but i think the connection with the characters is key. the movie is really just a continuation of cloud's story. for those that fell in love with the game (and more specifically, with the characters) they'll see the characters grow and come to terms with the issues that consumed them while on the playstation. for anyone that hasn't really played the game, the connection is just not there.

enough jibber jabber. in continuing the dork blurb i've got going so far, i'd like to announce my excitement with crisis core and dirge of cereberus (namely the latter, as information on crisis core is few and far between). how neat would it be have vincent as the main character? the dvd included a quick 1-2 minute trailer on dirge of cereberus, but it looked delicious. the trailer has merely whetted my appetite for future square-enix goodness. having pumped over 70 hours into dragon quest viii (great game albeit it a time-gobbler), i think its about time to reconnect with my roots. replay ffvii? i'm thinking yes.

and here's my abrupt end to a more or less meaningless post.
