New Computer, yeah!

My old system recently became acting up.. in many different ways. While possible to keep it limping along for quite some time; it certainly would annoy me to no end. The computer was originally purchased in 1999 when I graduated from Bethel College and entered into seminary. Despite gradual upgrades through roughly 2002 it is certainly showing it's age more and more, and it's upgrade path was at an end since it doesn't support many newer, better, faster technologies.

My gracious and generous wife gave me the go ahead to order a new system. I think I hit my sweet spot in the price / performance ratio, especially since I found some very nice deals on components and promotions. Free shipping on almost everything, nice w/ some bigger, heavier items like the monitor and the case.

Here's a rundown for those who are interested...

Gigabyte DS3L P35-chipset based motherboard
Toolless case and new power supply
E2180 Dual-core Intel processor
2 Gig of DDR2-800
Nvidia 8600GT 256MB Video card
Lite-on lightscribe 20x SATA DVD burner
22" (yep 22) Widescreen LCD monitor

Storage, and operating systems transferring over from old system... excess, but still usable parts upgrading my HTPC.

Boy it would have been easy to spend more... or less for that matter, although I got some deals, but I'm thrilled with my choices, and it could be here by the end of the week.  Then I just have to put it together with the challenge of a curious toddler around ;)
