Merry Xmas?

So who decided that X should be short the Christ part of Christmas? there is no X in the word Christ, There is no X sound in the word Christ. how does it make sense? what is the reasoning for that? I mean, a t might kinda work cuz it kinda looks like a cross, but even then thats stretching it. Was somebody just knocking back a little too much eggnog or soemthing? it doesnt make any sense to me.
