the chief mark of an empire is divorce between the power of a nation and the energy of its people. we have 300 million people, hardworking, smart. and the nation as a whole, the government and the corporations, tap all the strength of that 300 million people, and do whatever they goddamn well please with it, and we don't stop them. meaning there is a radical divorce between power as its generated and responsibility over that power.
that is what an empire is, and it's corrupt and decadent, and it can only last as a blasphemy to Christ and God and all that is holy.
