Friday we had a few of that game crew over to discuss the continuation of that game. Fadey made veggie lasagna and we watched some silly gamer humor.
BTW, I'd like to note that a couple talking about thier character's sexual proclivities as part of foreplay is a fine geek tradition. :)
Saturday we got out the door pretty early and headed north towards Waco. Met Harashi as the dog museum and poked around. Still very doggy! :) I got a glass insulator from a telephone line to 'pay admission' and because they're cool. (it's probably going to end up with a color-changing LED in it, like everything else) After we'd been there for a while, I sugar-crashed and made a run to a nearby gas station for some emergency chocolate and chips. Much better, aah.
Back into town next, we found the city park and then started driving around it...it's a big park! The spot Fadey had picked was off on the corner, but it was a nice gazebo in a field all my itself. Very nice spot. :) We busted out the grill, and Swivel and his friends showed up with some more food. We chatted for a while, and I shamelessly showed off my sketchbook, cuz that's what I do.
We finished up and headed to the zoo...Swivel et al. bowed out on the basis of being poor students but Harashi was game. It's a cute little zoo, very modern in its implementation--winding paths with lots of green, a feeling of going between different biomes, and the exhibit buildings are themed--the aquarium one looks like a shipwreck, the nocturnal animal one looks like a barn (and the cages are set up like stall doors to maintain the illusion). The critters were mostly lying in the shade out of the sun, poleaxed by the heat. Hard to blame them, really!
Curiously the bear exhibit was overrun with black-faced vultures or buzzards of some sort. I guess they must like bear poo? Or stealing bear food?
We bid adeu to Harashi (with crushing hugs) and headed on home, figuring we'd stop for iced tea and some food after getting all that sun. We bopped around downtoen Waco and didn't really see anything, but heading back towards I-35 there was a little local tex-mex chain that looked promising. Ordering there was a little odd...we decided to try the fajitas for two, and two different waitresses asked us if we were SURE that was ALL we wanted. Since there were two of us, it seemed pretty logical to me! I started wondering if thier 'for two' items were euphamistically named, but it showed up and there was plenty to eat.
Back home I pretty much collapsed on the couch and enjoyed the dark and cool. Aaah. |)
Sunday was church stuff as always, a little earlier than ususal. I dropped Fades off and went to the Omletry...no waiting, yay! Read some of the old SF magazines that Bauson gave me while noshing. Then back to hang out with Fades for a while, then when he was free we headed down south for lunch at the Shady Grove, then some toddling around the south thrift shops.
Fadey made some impromptu plans to make spicy chicken for dinner and I did some vaccuming. The air in the house became rather hard to breathe while he was working on the sauces! Usb, Cran and Tanuki joined us and we chatted and then ate chicken while watching some of Fades' AV-geeks stuff. I snuck some chicken gizzards into the cart and Fades was nice enough to make those, so I enjoyed them very much. :9
Oh, the hot sauce was DAMN hot! We had ice cream for desert, though, that helped. :9
