This week, I am a day late, Holmes and Watson take a roadtrip, and Rikki Tikki Tavi's lesser known cousin, Teddy, makes an appearance.
DISCUSS.

There is a joke here about pegging, but I think I'll leave it alone.
1. The old standard: what did you think of this story? Like, dislike, feel indifference for, want to take to bed?
2. What do you make of the opening scene? Why does Holmes need Watson along, exactly? (Why does Watson keep bachelor quarters for one in his house?)
3. If you had to choose, which institution do you think Doyle is taking a critical look at here: the military, or marriage? What do you think he's saying about either institution?
4. Ah, the old locked-room mystery. Do you think Doyle uses the trope well, or not? Why?
5. By this point, you should be able to recognize when Doyle is recycling material. What elements do you recognize from previous stories? Any? Do you think he reuses them for a reason, or just out of laziness? Does he reuse them well?
Bonus points: Can you find the famous line that isn't? Can you also find the canon line that (probably) inspired a bit of dialogue in BBC's Sherlock?
