Mrs. Hudson Interjects - Housekeeping Post
There are a few items of news this week!
First off, I'd like to welcome ladylovelace on as a co-mod. I'm going to be graduating from college (uni if you're not in the States) this December, and as such, am going to be needing more help to keep the comm running smoothly, ergo, an extra mod. Hopefully this will keep us on an even keel.
Secondly, a few weeks ago I conducted a poll in regards to creative challenges. I've looked at the feedback, and here's the new plan.
Once a month, I'll make a creative challenge post. There will be three options on it. One will be a theme prompt, like the ones we've had so far. It will work just like all the other creative prompts have: anything goes, as long as the theme gets incorporated in some way. The second will be a 221B challenge. For fic writers, this means a fic that's 221 words exactly, with the last word beginning with B. For fanmixers, this is 5 songs (2+2+1), with one title or artist that begins with B. Artwork is harder to modify to this format, but art is of course welcome. My best suggestion is that this is supposed to be a small-ish response. So, five icons or one friends banner or small fanarts. I think this would be a cool place to do picspams; again, smallish ones. They just have to satisfy the theme. And finally, there will be a "Dispatch Box" prompt, which will be a second chance at a previous creative challenge.
The other thing I'd like to start doing on the first week of the month is a rec post. We got some great recs last time, even though it was at a weird time of month. This upcoming Saturday, we'll do another rec post. These will become regular fixtures, once every first Saturday.
Finally, it is November, and the holiday season is coming up soon. I know a LOT of comms are doing holiday exchanges...do we want to join the fun, or do other places have us covered? I personally am a big fan of secret Santa-type exchanges, but I'd like to hear from you guys.
