25 reasons why you should watch Oofuri/Ōkiku Furikabutte/Big Windup!/おおきく振りかぶって!
There's this anime called Oofuri, and I had planned on watching it for a while. I wasn't sure if I would like it, since it's all about baseball. But I liked Prince of Tennis and everyone knows that was ~all about tennis~, right? ;). So I watched Oofuri and I absolutely adored it. Then I found out there was a second season, and I liked that even more! Now I'm really big into the fandom, and think that this series doesn't get as much recognition as it should. So without further ado, I present: Oofuri is an anime about boys touching each other inappropriately baseball, or 25 reasons why you should watch this anime.
Reason #1: This strapping young lad is Mihashi, the ace of Nishiura's baseball team. He's their number one pitcher, but is really the catcher if you understand what I'm saying cough cough.
Reason #2: Tajima. The lovely, fair-skinned boy pictured above is Tajima. He's the clean up batter (aka he hits fourth), and he's also a back-up catcher. He has really, really good eyes and he's probably the best player Nishiura has. He's hilariously funny without even trying and enjoys getting naked at random and expressing his affection for his team mates.
Reason #3: The abuse. That dark-haired boy is Abe, the catcher (although he's really the pitcher if you catch my drift cough cough). He is pretty much in control of Mihashi and watches his every move/is obsessed with Mihashi's weight/health/Mihashi himself. As you can see in this screen cap, Abe is preparing to have sex with Mihashi - a regular occurance, probably.
Reason #4: The abuse... again. This time it looks like Abe desperately wants a blow job from Mihashi, who seems surprised at the size of Abe's raging erection just inches from his back.
Reason #5: Abe's teasing. "You don't want me to quit fucking you, right, Mihashi?". Stretching is very important in baseball, remember that!
Reason #6: Cute moments like this. Abe is grabbing Mihashi, clearly expecting and wanting a kiss. But will Mihashi oblige?
Reason #7: Oh yes he will. As you can see, Mihashi is moving his face closer, ready to go for the kiss.
Reason #8: Bromance. This show is all about the bromance. When Abe's not beating/fucking/yelling at Mihashi, he's all "u no ur mah man, right? I LUV U MANG"
Reason #9: Hand-holding. Seriously, they'll stop playing in the middle of the game to hold hands (ok so there's a longer story behind that, but still). Holding hands. In the middle of the game. So precious, so in rabu rabu, etc.
Reason #10: Moeashi. Aka Mihashi's moeness. Aka Mihashi is more moe than anyone ever, and he gets so ridiculously happy from holding Abe's hand. He does, okay? Look at the way their hands are touching. Precious.
Reason #11: Team rape time. Or something. Clearly, they're counting the seconds until they all rape poor little Mihashi.
Reason #12: Doki doki moments such as this. Abe grabbing Mihashi's arm and being all "PLZ DON'T GO". Basically. My heart, it broke. just liek Abe's leg only not rly
Reason #13: Same reason as above, only better. Hearts simoutaniously break around the world.
Reason #14: The handjobs. All Abe wants is a handjob! or at least that's what it looks like to me/everyone else watching the show
Reason #15: The faces Mihashi makes. Reason #15.5: Tajima, yet again. Especially when he tackle!hugs Mihashi like that.
Reason #16: More hand-holding. Tajima's apparently nervous about catching Mihashi's balls.
Reason #17: The way Mihashi and Abe look at each other. By this part of the episode I was sobbing uncontrollably, and rightfully so. They're so in love, idgaf what anyone says.
Reason #18: Mihashi falling to pieces. He actually does this fairly often, but sometimes it's more serious than other times. Hearts burst apart all around the world, etc.
Reason #19: Abe comforting his pitcher. At this point, the tears would not streaming down my face. OH ABE. OH MIHASHI. THEIR LOVE IS SO PURE/DRAMATIC/PERFECT.
Reason #20: Mihashi's tear-stained face.
Reason #21: Mihashi and Abe are an old married couple. Seriously, just look at them. How can anyone say otherwise? Abe's all "HONEY WHERE THE FUCK IS MY DINNER, I JUST HAD A LONG DAY OF WORK /PROPS FEET UP".
Reason #22: The way Abe and Mihashi put their heads closer together when they talk. And vow to both get better in bed as baseball players.
Reason #23: The way Mihashi gets all close and gives Abe everything he wants/takes care of him/etc.
Reason #24: Again, Mihashi's faces. So precious. Also note how close he is sitting to Abe.
Reason #25: The way they say 'take care'. It looks like Abe's the husband going off to work and his wife is wishing him a safe trip.
Note that all screen caps used were from the second season, but the first season is just as gay (albeit more focused on baseball; the second season focuses a bit more on relationships between the characters). You can download both seasons of the anime at anivoid (google it) or you can do what I did and buy the first season from Funimation. Unfortunately Funi has no plans of licensing the second season, so you'll have to download or stream it.
also this entry was purely for fun, no harm was intended, this anime really isn't shounen-ai although it certainly can be perceived as such ok :c really, it's a baseball anime and it was very informative and I can now understand how to play the game etc etc. I'm a biased fangirl which is obvious from the screencaps that I used, sorry :x
