31 Days: Day One
Okay, so I guess I am doing 31 days instead of 30. Hope everyone's had or is having a decent New Year's, or at least isn't having too bad of one, but here goes. I'll basically do the same thing I did last time, which is upload a song and spend a few sentences talking about it. The only difference is, this time, I'm doing all unreleased songs or songs that only ever got played live or things like that. All the songs come from Missing Tracks, Lost Masters, Unsurpassed bootleg collections and the like. I'll link to the full lyrics at the end of each post.
1. Drop Down and Cover Me

This was a BitUSA outtake that ended up becoming Cover Me. A lot of the lyrics are the same, including the opening verse, but the melody is completely different. Where Cover Me almost had an apocalyptic sound to it, DD&CM sounds much more hopeful. It's just as frantic, mostly due to Max's drum work, but it sounds more uplifting than Cover Me. The themes are basically the same between the two songs, though - the idea of the whole world being against you except for the one person you're with, the insecurity and paranoia of the narrator, etc.
