Easy Cake Recipes for a First Time Baker

I was hoping for some advice please.
While I'm an avid cook, I haven't baked since secondary school - 15 years ago - and recently got a new fan assisted oven, so want to try my hand at baking cakes.
Could anyone please suggest some easy recipes for someone who hasn't baked before.
No one in my family has any allergies, so anything goes, but things that would be enjoyed by both adults and children would be appreciated.
