Halloween is coming! Please share your creepiest fun recipes.

Here is mine, adapted from a recipe I found online (possibly Martha Stewart? not sure). I'm not an expert baker so I'm sure most of you could make a much more realistic version of these:

Severed Finger Cookies
-2 Tbsp red food colouring
-30 blanched whole almonds (boil and cool to remove skin)
-2 large eggs
-1/4 tsp vanilla
-8 Tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
-1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
-5 Tbsp granulated sugar
-pinch of salt
-1 2/3 cup all purpose flour

1. Heat oven to 350F.

2. Place food colouring in shallow bowl. Using small paintbrush, colour one rounded half of each almond and set aside to dry. (I didn't have a brush or the patience for only colouring one side, so I just let the almonds sit completely in the food colouring for a bit before drying.)

3. Separate one egg. Set aside the white. In a small bowl, whisk together yolk, other egg and vanilla. Set aside.

4. Combine butter, confectioner's sugar, granulated sugar and salt. Beat until well-combined. Add egg mixture and beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Add flour and mix until just incorporated. Wrap dough in plastic and chill until firm, about 20-30 minutes.

5. Divide dough in half. Work with one piece at a time, keeping remaining dough covered and chilled. Divide first half into 15 pieces. On lightly floured surface, roll each piece back and forth with palms to finger shapes, 3-4 inches long. Make them a bit skinner than you want the finished product to be (I didn't do this and my fingers ended up being a bit puffy, as you can see.) Pinch dough in two places to form knuckles. Score each knuckle lightly with knife or spoon. Transfer fingers onto baking sheet. Repeat process with remaining dough.

6. When all fingers are formed, brush lightly with egg white (again, without a brush, I spooned it on and distributed as best I could). Position and push in almonds to create the nails. Add a bit of food colouring to opposite end for bloody effect.

7. Bake until lightly browned, about 12 minutes. Cool completely before eating.

Note: You can also add bit of green food colouring to the dough if you want "witches' fingers," but I find the realistic ones a bit creepier.
