The syrup was mostly to amp up the apple flavor - original recipe called for 1/2 cup sugar rather than 1/3 I used, so you might give a rounded 1/3 cup to adjust the sweetness from the syrup back in.
These sound SO GOOD. I have such a craving for apple-y stuff right now. I am definitely buying apply cider next time I'm at the farmer's market so I can make these!

Question: do you think I could substitute Apfelkorn liqueur for the boiled cider? It has a very strong apple flavor, but might not be thick enough?
