I've decided that I want to throw a Conan (as in the Barbarian) party next week. Of course, I want to have as much themed food as possible. Beyond plenty of booze and roasted meat, I really want to bake something. I don't know why, but the first thing that came to mind was baklava. And oh goodness does that sound so tasty right now!

i dont think they would've baked much if at all during that time--when do you need recipes by? there's a really good italian dessert i have that seems simple enough to fit (it's like a nut shortcake baked in a springform and you just break off pieces and serve it with fruit).

Bake what folks out in the open bake: flatbreads. Probably unleavened, although you might want to change that for faux historical inaccuracy to make things more palatable. Maybe something leavened with beer yeast? I don't see barbarians lugging around a blob of sourdough. XD
