Yeah, I know, I know. I suck at updating. So here's a bit of insight into the life that is mine:
~Interviewed with the AEON corporation for a teaching job in Japan. It was spectacularly crap, but in a sick and twisted way, probably a good thing. I'd have been alone in Japan, probably the only english speaker in my apartment complex. I do not do well completely alone and isolated like that. I imagine finding an english-speaking therapist in Japan would be difficult and costly.
~Interviewed at Presentation Academy for a part-time French teaching job. Interview went so very much better. Still didn't get hired, but I don't blame them. I don't have my MAT, I have almost no teaching experience, and I don't know anything about classroom management or writing lesson plans. And to be fair, I remember how *I* behaved in high school. I would NOT want to deal with mini-mes without proper training.
~Have sent in resumes/cover letters to Zoeller Corp. and Brown-Forman. Mr Zoeller himself asked that I send in a resume, so that's pretty exciting, still waiting to hear back from either of them. I suck at the waiting game. I'm much too impatient.
~Started re-studying Chinese and Spanish. It's astonishing how much I've forgotten. I'm kind of ashamed, really. The BBC website is fantastic for reviews up to lower-intermediate levels though, and I'm profoundly grateful for that. Anyone interested should definitely check it out: www.bbc.co.uk/languages They have these neat 12-week online beginner's courses for Spanish, French, German, and I think Italian as well.
~Began participating in Weight Watchers with my mom. Meetings are not as lame as I thought they'd be. And they give me stickers. It is amazing what I will do for stickers. Combined with earlier efforts with the SlimFast diet (OMG I now hate chocolate), I've dropped a pants size, and am about half-way down a second.
~Really starting to enjoy German pop-music. Didn't realise it could sound as pretty as it does.
~Re-read all 7 Harry Potter books. It was fun to do, and a great reminder of why I liked those books in middle and high school.
~Got current with Shadow Unit. I don't know why I resisted reading for so long, the stories are fantastic
Aaaand that's about it really. I'm fairly boring and predictable these days. I have a decent routine for life, though it could stand a bit more social interaction and sunlight. I leave for Colorado on wednesday, and will be gone for 10 days. I think it's going to be a great trip, I haven't been out West since middle-school. We're going to visit Mesa Verde, do some white-water rafting, trail riding, and hiking, and I'm trying to talk my papa into letting me visit Cheyenne Mountain to indulge my inner Stargate Fangirl (and stalk Air Force boys). I should really try and update this silly thing more often
