Okay, I'm totally doing this *now*, weeks later instead of writing that rough draft for IDC. Alanna/George: 1) Ooooh, I started shipping the two of them in High School sometime, maybe sophomore or junior year? I don't really remember 2) Well, they're canonically a couple, but there was the whole Alanna/Jon thing, and the Alanna/Liam thing, and for the first couple of years George thought Alanna was Alan... 3) They're happily married, and still totally in love with one another even years later. Alanna is able to give George parts of herself she was never willing to share with anyone else. 4) Not a whole lot, really. Maybe that they don't get to spend as much time together as I think they ought? Or that it took them so freaking long to get together, and at first I thought George was just going to be a rebound-fuckbuddy for Alanna? 5) The fact that initially, George *was* a rebound-fuckbuddy for Alanna. She realised how much she really did love him later, though. 6) I dun' really know. I was never really all that fond of the A/J ship, and recent rereadings of SoTL made me really, really hate Liam. And we never really see George with anyone else that way. I suppose a really twisted part of me could ship Thom/George... 7) They grow old together and have loads of grandbabies to fawn over
Nita/Kit: Well, I do and don't ship them. They are best friends first and foremost, and as long as I've been reading the series (since sixth grade, or thereabouts) it wasn't until recently I really saw the shipper-y side of them. I would *like* them to get together in the future, but way far down the line, like. I ADORE Kit. I identified way hard with Nita, so I've always wanted a guy-friend like Kit. That one that sticks with you through thick and thin and ends up being your One True Love (tm). But at the same time, I worry that a romantic relationship between them would ruin what I love best about them-- They are best friends. In all honesty, I'm probably more a die-hard Tom/Carl or Dairine/Roshaun shipper when it comes to the YW fandom
