[five days later and Kaito's arm is still in a sling (though the nurses have finally told him he can remove it within the next day).

Have you dealt with these nurses before? It's like they turned the Pokemon Center into a heavily guarded prison.

Only a couple times. Mostly when people did that falling-asleep-for-weeks thing, and then they were all like, "oh it's fine, let me heal your Pokemon!"

So I'm pretty convinced all the locals are insane.

Oh, I'm pretty sure she's got her own little bubble of space-time that makes her everyone's 'mom' at once. Y'know, when people show up at the same time and stuff. New Bark is tiny -- Mom must be in her own dimension.
