If you're always negative, you'll draw more negative [bad] things to happen in your life, and the same when you start being more positive.
This really pisses me right the fuck off. Because it's blaming the victim. It's more woo-woo version of it than "women wouldn't get raped if they ... " or "if someone is poor it's because they didn't work hard enough" but it's still the same shit.
And yeah, I understand why people want to believe shit like that. The world is a cruel and unfair place where babies are born with diseases that will kill them before they have a chance to even live, and little kids starve to death, and people die horribly EVERY FUCKING DAY.
Woo-woo shit like "The Secret" is one way that people delude themselves into feeling like they've got some kind of control over their lives. It's how they tell themselves that horrible random shit won't happen to them. People want to believe that the horrible shit isn't random at all and only happens to people who have "negative energy" or who believe in the wrong deity or don't work hard enough.
But deep down, it's all the same bullshit.
