It's that time of year again ...

President Obama gave his first State of the Union address tonight.

It started with the usual, about his duty, and how even in our darkest times, America had risen to the challenges that faced it. His message was a hopeful one, that the coming year would be better than this one had been.

(Somehow, I doubt it could have been much worse.)

When he spoke about the fallen heroes of the Zombie War, I don't think there was a dry eye in the House -- or the Senate. (Old one, I know.) He spoke about the need for bipartisanship; the shambling hordes don't know Democrat from Republican, and how even though they seem to have been beaten back, the need for vigilance continues.

As I Margy and I hurried back to the bunker (being careful to use the buddy system) I felt more hopeful than I had since the first attack.
