Aside from Pinocchio’s desire to become a real boy he also wants to go to school. There is tuition-free schooling in their village the parents just need to provide school supplies for their kids. But Geppetto was poor; he can’t afford to buy school supplies for Pinocchio.
One evening Geppetto was reading a story to Pinocchio. In the middle of Geppetto’s story-telling, Pinocchio declared he wants to go to school and learn how to read and write.
Geppetto explained to Pinocchio he can’t at present afford to send him to school. It made Pinocchio sad, he understands Geppetto’s situation so he sought help in his prayers before he went to bed. It was a quite, cool evening, and the sky was filled with stars.
The BBBS fairy heard Pinocchio's prayers.
[When you wish upon a star, first two stanzas sang by the BBBS volunteers]
The BBBS fairy suddenly appeared before a startled Pinocchio.
P: Who are you?
B: I’m the BBBS fairy; I’m here to make your wish come true.
P: You’ll turn me into a real boy?
B: Another fairy will do that for you; I’m here so that you can go to school.
P: Really? Great! I’ve always wanted to go to school.
Pinocchio's wish was granted by the BBBS fairy.
B: All kids have a right to education, even you Pinocchio.
P: Wow, thank you BBBS fairy!
B: Study well Pinocchio and remember, what matters most is what you are inside. As for your other wish, it’s just a matter of time, be patient and keep your nose clean.
P: Where are you going next BBBS fairy?
B: Somewhere out there is another remote village where kids like you need our help. Be good Pinocchio, and good luck in your studies.

Pinocchio’s desire to become a real boy mirrors the yearning of school children especially those living in remote villages up in the mountains, for them to attend or continue attend school.
Regardless of creed, race or social class, every child has the right to education. Let us do our share in making their dreams come true.
