I have a rule... A rule i abide by... Maybe it's an axiom... Whatever!
No one ever succeeds in following, meeting, or locating another person... It just does not work.
I always give explicit directions, no matter how convinced the person is that they will follow, meet, or locate me... And still today happened.
My favorite entertainment is visiting Disneyland, using my annual pass...
I was meeting one of my Disneyland buddies inside the park, because she was coming in from a different direction today... Usually we drive together... Meetup was scheduled for 12:30 at the flag pole... I was there. At 12:30 my friend called from her cell phone to my cell phone, saying that she was parking, so she'd meet me in about 20 minutes. At 1:30 i began to worry... At 2 i was worried and annoyed... I left 6 messages on her cell phone, which she was not answering... I even asked security if there had been any accidents or incidents in the parking structure... Nope, no problems there... At 2:45 i gave up and went to get some food... At 3:15 my cell rang, from a totally strange area code... But what the hell! I answered it anyway...
Sure enough, it was my friend...
She had left her cell phone in her car.
She had completely twisted the agreed upon meeting place... Did not remember that there IS a flag pole...
She did not have my cell phone number written down... Only in her phone... In her car...
Luckily, as she was paying for her lunch (we were planning to meet for lunch), she discovered my cell phone number on a sticky note in her wallet... And an ever-helpful Disney employee found her a phone she could use to call me... And i was worried enough i answered an unknown number...
I went to meet her, since i sincerely believe she would never have found me... No matter how clear my directions. She was apologetic, and embarrassed... We had a pleasant afternoon anyway...
But you may be very, very sure i will never ever again try to meet her anywhere, anytime, anyhow!
Sorry, i had to vent, and there are no local folks i could impose upon!
