*It takes him a few moments to puzzle out what exactly she's asking--what springs to mind are the typical platitudes that you might offer to any woman, like beautiful or stunning or lovely, but obviously that doesn't really apply here. The wolf is striking, certainly, but it's not beautiful in the same way a woman is, and certainly not in the same way she is.*
You go all dark gray, actually, with some black. I believe your eyes must stay the same color, though.
*It's the truth. She can remember it, remember it all--how good it felt, after almost a hundred transformations spent a mad and muzzled thing tearing itself apart on the walls of its cage. How right it felt for the wolf to finally be free to do what it was made to do. What she was made to do.*
Very sweet.
*And right on the coattails of that, she lifts his knuckles to her lips and kisses them.*
You know I've got coffee with Remus on Thursday. You don't mind, do you?
You know he's not the best company for you to keep. I do worry.
But, if it makes you happy I wouldn't dream of denying you. Just tread carefully if he says about allegiances, or the war. We shouldn't want the Ministry dogging your steps again.
Well it was the Registry and I was all done up in my little pearl earrings and the woman was just awful to me, frightened me nearly out of my wits.
*Just the way she says it explains why there isn't a pearl to be seen in her very extensive jewelry collection. She shrugs.*
I made it through the appointment but of course I started crying right in the hallway. Not to forget that's about the worst thing you can do, to be upset or, you know. Out of it. Where they can see you. And I was alone, obviously. But Remus was there and walked me out. And then, the lessons, you know the rest.
*His little smirk says, thanks to me. Even with Remus Lupin miles away and married, apparently, according to Amrita, he can't help but remind her that keeping her company at the registry is one thing, and what Evan himself has done is quite another.*
Good of him, I suppose, but that row you had once you quit lessons with him--now that we're wed, what can he possibly think of that if he was so revolted by our engagement?
Right? I didn't even ask her name, I was too thrown. Isn't it bizarre? I can't imagine how they get on. Plugs and things. And guns probably. I hope she isn't a thug or something. Dreadful.
Not sure that I can blame him, though. He's just lovely but he isn't much, you know, I don't think witches are exactly chasing him through the streets.
*She settles into the circle of his arm a bit and is quiet for awhile, lost in thought. Just when it seems she's dropped off again, she speaks quietly.*
You didn't come into the Leaky by accident, did you. The night we met.

I'm sure he won't, though. You know how we met? It was before you and I.

*She flops over onto her belly, propping her cheek up on one fist.*
Besides, it was awfully quickly. He'd known me longer. I can't blame him being a bit surprised.

*He reaches out and tucks a stray loop of hair--a sign that her braid is loose--back over her ear.*
I suppose his reasoning might be the same as ours. Still, you might ask. I'd be curious to at least hear a thing or two about this muggle.
