I was amazed to read that not much has happened today. After Virginia Tech, and then NASA the next day, I was expecting another horrible tragedy.
In case you are unaware William Phillips, an engineer at NASA in Texas, brought a snubbed nose revolver into the building and shot David Beverly, and then turned the gun on himself. When one finds out about this, the first question would probably be "Why?". Did he treat him unfairly? Absolutely not. William Phillips got a bad job review, and feared being fired so he decided to shoot his superior. Being 60, you would think he would have lived long enough to know how to handle his "work being reviewed" (which was all they said they were going to do, they never said his job was in risk) instead of just bringing a revolver in and killing him. A hostage was taken, a woman named Fran Crenshaw, but she was released unharmed.
I think it's amazing that in the past week there has been two major gun-related situations that ended with not only the death of the shooter but also innocent people, and yet gun laws are not going to be discussed and changed. I absolutely understand that making it illegal to have guns would be ridiculous, because it would be taking guns away from people whom legally own them for defense reasons, and still allowing those who illegally get them to have them (because, chances are the people who are using these weapons for illegal reasons, aren't going to follow a law about gun owning anyway) But still, you cannot deny that these rules need adjusting, considering the occurences which have been taking place recently.
In other news, it appears that the Vermont Senate has voted 16-9 for Bush and Cheney to be impeached. This isn't going to change anything, they're not actually trying to impeach them yet, but I think it's wonderful that they say these kinds of things because it shows even Americans are waking up to what George Bush is doing. Now it's not only outsiders pointing out the mistakes he has been making repeatedly, but also the Americans whom used to defend him. This is a great improvement compared to what it used to be.

step forward, america, nasa, vermont senate, impeachment, 2007, william phillips, death, shooting, gun laws, george bush, dick cheney
