Irony of ironies!

I’ve had a nasty and persistent outbreak of rash-like acne for months now, beginning in the latter half of 2006. It didn’t stay in the same location, but shifted from place to place over time, covering my chest, abdomen and shoulders (which are now clear), and is currently active on my neck.

I finally consulted a specialist yesterday, and his diagnosis was:

This acne is what weightlifters get when they use anabolic steroids.

I HAVE NEVER USED STEROIDS!

STEROIDS CAUSE CANCER!

MY FATHER DIED OF CANCER!

I’M GENETICALLY PREDISPOSED TO CANCER ALREADY!

I’M NOT SUICIDAL!!

The specialist was pretty insistent, though, and somehow I suspect he’s right. You see, I started taking this when I joined my commercial gym last year, and the acne first appeared about then...

It’s supposed to be a whey protein drink, nothing dodgy about the ingredients whatsoever. It’s the only supplement I’ve used for weight training.

How did I get steroid acne from this? I have no idea...

I wouldn’t mind a little acne if I looked like so. Instead, I get to suffer the rash without the freaking huge muscles. O cruel Fate!

P.S. I’ve discovered that I like the smell of sulphur. The doctor gave a 5% sulphur cream for treatment, and the smell is delightfully bracing and antiseptic!

If I kill someone and go to Hell, will I get to smell this every day?
