Bees in the Squash

Jul 24, 2009 19:39

I was taking pix of my squash blossoms when I saw this:

see that bee butt up in the bottom of the blossom? Well a day later I went out to harvest some squash blossoms and I picked that blossom, now all closed up and it buzzed in my hand so I freed that greedy little bee, then I checked the other blossoms and found three bees in one, I kept dropping it and a bee would crawl out then picking it up and feel the buzzing and another bee squeezed out, and a third. poor bees, maybe I should check all the blossoms... I find bees in my harvested squash blossoms all the time so I wasn't as surprised as I was when I saw the huge black wasp sitting on the 7 foot tall amaranth. I had to look it up to reassure myself that it wouldn't eat my entire garden overnight.
