The JBWeld worked and I set my stereo back up. Its nice to be able to listen to it again. The fm tuner I have just went for $1500 on ebay, crazy.

Speaking of crazy... since hooking my stereo back up I've delved back into the sick sad world of audiophiles and found this.

Thats fucking crazy. The audiophile world is fucked up. What you have is a bunch of people with way too much fucking money. I mean this shit sells itself. Just put an outrageous price tag on things and audio review magazines have to rave about it or they lose credibility. Rich people buy it because its expensive, and the others obsess and dream over, but ultimately have to settle for the slightly less ridiculously priced item.

Its all marketing too, the website for that power cord offers little technical data on it. What can it do, reveal it is in fact no different than any other power cable?! But it doesn't matter, audiophiles sell themselves on this kinda shit.

Audiophiles reject the 'technical stuff' they believe in the subjective. Even if they were faced with scientific evidence that showed a $3000 power cable does nothing to improve the sound it would not stop them. They would say 'you have to hear it to believe'. No you have to believe it to hear it.

Its ironic, it's a gear obsession that simultaneously rejects the technical. Music should be the thing that moves and excites. But not for an audiophile, read a review and things like interconnects and speaker cables have the ability to make music 'danceable'.

Do people who enjoy paintings obsess this much about how its lit?
