It's really a preemptive measure with the d word, I'm going to hear it a lot. I guess to my mind, using it myself makes it less potent? I dunno, I used to hear that all the time before I met my ex from my co-workers. Having a boyfriend for 6 years made me pretty much immune for people wanting to use that particular insult, but now that I'm single again with the uber short hair and my gender neutral wardrobe? Yeah, I'd better get used to it. My brother said it about 10 times just last night. ><
I did straighten them a little bit after that pic, but since I've got so much hair, if it's completely straight it kind of sticks straight out. Too, it won't stay straight, even with the flat iron spray and a good ceramic straightener, my hair's just really wavy. The good news is, once it grows out a bit it'll look nice, it does lay well short, all I have to do is comb it and hit it with a small amount of hair spray and it stays in place all day. I don't really have the issues with 'flat hair days' that my mom does. XD
