Ch. 8

Steve sighed as they rode the elevator up and up and further up. He was still getting his strength back from being sick the past week and Chris’s hours of crazy driving to get them here had almost made him suicidal, nah, scratch that he would stay alive and just kill his lover instead. He had woken up yesterday to Chris telling him since they were so close to Florida they should take a break from their gigs and go see Jensen. Steve had agreed immediately, excited about seeing his friend again. But the constant driving with Chris had worn him out even more.

Once the elevator opened the two men made their way down the hall to the correctly marked door and while Chris raised his hand to knock, Steve rested against the wall next to the door.

After a few seconds the door opened. “Hey m…Jensen?” Chris asked concerned at the red teary eyed man that stood before him.

Steve turned his head at his lover’s concerned voice and saw Jensen throw himself into Chris’s arms. Concerned, he pushed away from the wall and stood next to the two of them, placing his own arms around both of them.

“What’s wrong Jen? You okay?” Chris asked frantically as his friend cried into his neck. He looked over to Steve and saw concern for Jensen reflected back at him. He clutched Jensen tighter to him and rubbed his back. “You’re scaring me here buddy. Are you just really glad to see us?”

Jensen tried to calm his breathing as he soaked in the feeling of Chris and Steve pressed against him, comforting him. At Chris’s last sentence though, he couldn’t help but laugh slightly, especially when Steve proceeded to slap the back of Chris’s head and mutter “idiot”.

Jensen pulled back after a bit and said, “What are you two doing here?”

“Visiting you.” Chris said as he wiped his fingers over Jensen’s eyes removing tears. “Don’t change the subject. What’s wrong?”

“I can’t believe you’re here.” Jensen choked out as he looked around. “I’m so happy you guys are here.”

Steve sighed as he stepped forward and pulled Jensen into a tight hug. “We’re here man.” He stated as he gently pushed Jensen back into the apartment. He didn’t want to have this conversation in the hallway.

As Chris closed the door behind them, Steve led Jensen over to sit on the couch and sat down right next to him keeping an arm around him. Moments later Chris joined them and said, “What’s this about Jensen? Are you okay?”

Jensen shrugged and said, “Jared, he…he…”

Steve knew all about Jared, Chris had kept him informed about the phone calls. He knew Jensen thought the kid was in an abusive relationship. He also knew the two of them had gotten pretty close. A sick thought came to his mind. “He’s not dead is he?” he blurted out, earning glares from both men even though Chris looked like he had wanted to ask the same thing.

“No!” Jensen stated and then rushed to say, “His boyfriend Josh had been away and we got really close and he was going to break up with Josh and be with me but Josh came home early and hurt Jared and now Jared won’t be with me because he thinks Josh will hurt us both and…”

“Whoa! Breathe man.” Chris’s head was spinning with all that new information. “Start from the beginning and go slower and breathe.”

So Jensen took a deep breath and explained to his two friends in detail what had happened since he moved in. He explained his concerns about Josh’s treatment of Jared, all his times with Jared and how close they had gotten; he explained about Chad and Jared’s mother, and what had gone down within the last day. By the time he was done talking and many questions were answered all three men were sprawled out over the couch exhausted.

“Jesus.” Steve muttered. His friend had gotten himself into quite a mess. “So Jared really thinks that Josh would hurt the both of you?”

Jensen nodded. “He has no problem hurting Jared and Jared said that Josh threatened to kill me, well the person who Jared was with.”

“He what?” Chris yelled as he sat up straight. “That fucker is really on my shit list now!”

“Calm down Chris.” Steve soothed. “There’s nothing that can be done right now. It’s late, I say we get some sleep and think about what to do tomorrow.”

Chris nodded and reached out to pull Jensen up. “Come on man, let’s get you to bed.” He and Steve led Jensen into the bedroom and had to practically force Jensen into bed as the man didn’t want to sleep. “Come on man, you’re exhausted, you had a bad, emotional day. You need sleep.”

Jensen sighed as he curled onto his side. “I can’t, I’m too worried about Jared.”

Chris sighed as he and Steve each laid down on either side of their friend. “Sleep Jensen.”

The two friends stayed awake awhile longer watching as Jensen dropped off into sleep. They then snuggled closer to him and fell asleep, giving their grieving friend comfort throughout the night.

Jared was sitting on the couch waiting for Josh who was expected home any minute. After he had cleaned up the mess in the living room and showered; he had taken a few pain pills but it still hurt to move around. He had no idea what to expect when Josh returned home. He didn’t know if Josh would be angry and beat him more or if he would be calm and caring. Jared knew that Josh didn’t like to get him to bruised and banged up in case they had to go out in public or see some of Josh’s friends. There was no way Josh wanted his work partners and friends to know that he beat his boyfriend and was anything less than perfect.

Jared’s heart pounded faster as he heard the front door open and then close again.

“Jared?” Josh’s voice rang out.

“I’m here.” Jared replied emotionless.

“Good. I brought back some Chinese from your favorite restaurant. I hope you haven’t eaten yet.” Josh said as he placed the food on the table and walked over to Jared.

So it would be the calm mood for Josh tonight. “Not yet.” Jared stood up.

Josh stepped up to him and kissed him on the mouth quickly. “Good.” He took Jared by the hand and led him over to the table. “Sit down and dig in.”

Jared did as he was told, not paying much attention to Josh as he sat down and got his own food. They ate dinner in silence, Jared unwilling to talk to Josh if he didn’t have to.

Once Josh finished he turned to Jared who was still picking at his food and ran a hand gently down Jared’s bruised face, ignoring his flinch. “Here is how it’s going to go Jared. I’m going to forget that this morning, no this last week, ever happened. We won’t speak on it ever again, but if I ever find out you cheated on me again, you won’t like the consequences, got it?”

Jared hesitated; looked quickly at Josh and then nodded his head before he returned his attention back to his food.

“Wonderful.” Josh smiled reaching out to turn Jared’s face back toward him and leaned over to kiss him. “Let’s head to bed early tonight. I’ve been lonely this past week without you.”

Jared felt a sudden bout of nausea as Josh pulled him up and to their bedroom. He didn’t want to be with Josh when the memory of Jensen was still so fresh in his mind. He closed his eyes and sighed in resignation as Josh began to shed his clothes and then did the same to Jared’s. Jared knew he had to get use to this life. This was the price he had to pay to keep the ones he truly loved safe.

“Come on.” Josh urged as he relaxed back against the head board, lube and a condom already at his side on the bed. “I’ve had a stressful day, so I want you to do the work. I want you to ride me.”

Jared froze at that; all the times they had sex, Josh had always been the one on top and doing all the work. It was his dominating nature and Jared wasn’t sure what made him want it like this, Jared figured it must be a new form of punishment.

“Now Jared.” Josh cut into his thoughts.

Jared slowly got on the bed and straddled Josh’s hips.

“Make me hard. Hurry it up; I can’t wait to be inside you.” Josh said as he rested his hands on Jared’s legs.

Jared reached out a hand and began to stroke Josh up and down his shaft. He could feel Josh grow hard in his hands. Jared tried to keep his face neutral; he didn’t want Josh to see how much he hated this.

“Good.” Josh moaned. “Oh yeah.”

Jared quickly let go and picked up the condom, tore it open with shaking hands and rolled it onto Josh. He then picked up the lube and squirted some into his hands before once again rubbing his hand up and down Josh’s shaft. Once it was coated he picked up the lube to put some on his fingers to open himself up but before he could Josh ripped the lube bottle out of his hand and threw it off the bed.

“You really don’t need to do that do you?” Josh said with a bold look in his eyes.

Jared knew that because he had sex with Jensen this morning he really didn’t need much of a prepping and apparently Josh knew that also. Jared knew that with no prepping it would probably hurt but it wouldn’t tare him or make him bleed any. Without meeting Josh’s eyes, Jared rose up on his knees and shuffled forward a bit so he was positioned over Josh’s cock. He slowly began to lower himself onto Josh. He gasped as Josh’s hands rose to his hips and pushed him steadily down until he was flush against Josh.

“Ahhh.” He cried out at the pain. Jared sat still for a few seconds breathing through it before the painful burn faded.

“Move.” Josh commanded.

Jared began to rock back and forth, raising himself up and down. His pace must not have pleased Josh because he planted his feet on the bed and began to thrust up into Jared when Jared would rock back down.

“You feel so good. I love doing this to you.” Josh moaned and groaned as he continued to thrust into the body above him.

Josh’s thrusts went hard and deep, rubbing his prostate with each thrust. Jared’s eyes began to tear up as he felt himself start to harden. Jared cursed himself as his body responded. He didn’t want to feel any pleasure with Josh. He wanted his pills to make him numb against any feelings again.

Josh chuckled. “Looks like your happy I’m back. Not taking your pills anymore then? That’s good.”

Jared gasped as Josh grabbed his cock and began to stroke it up and down, bringing it to full hardness. The rubbing against his prostrate and the stimulation of his cock was too much for Jared and he moaned out loud, his head thrown back in pleasure and frustration.

“You look so sexy.” Josh said as he leaned up and flipped Jared backwards off him onto his back before rising up and putting Jared’s legs over his shoulder before plunging back inside. His thrusts were hard and fast.

Jared was breathing heavily as Josh thrust back inside and once again began to stroke his shaft in time with his thrusts. Jared cried out and came all over Josh’s hand. He closed his eyes in humiliation. He felt Josh thrust a few more times before he groaned as he came.

Josh pulled out and discarded the condom. “That was great.” Josh said as he pulled Jared up and they both shuffled to the head of the bed and under the covers. “We’ll have a whole life time of that ahead of us.”

Jared rolled on his side as Josh pulled him into his arms, chest to back. Now that he had calmed down from his climax, he felt miserable. He felt like he had betrayed Jensen and Jared closed his eyes and wished that he could die.

*******~~~*******

Jared woke stiff and sore the next morning. He looked behind him to see that he was the only one in the bed. Glancing at the clock he saw it was almost eleven in the morning. He groaned as he rolled out of bed slowly and headed into the bathroom. Once there he went straight to the medicine cabinet, avoiding looking into the mirror. He desperately needed his meds. He wanted to go back to being numb and unresponsive with Josh. If he had to spend the rest of his life with the man he wanted to go back to the way he felt before he met Jensen. He didn’t want a repeat of last night ever again.

His search through the cabinet became frantic when he couldn’t find them. “No. No. No.” Jared cursed. He always kept the pills here if he was home. Jared hung his head and let out a half sigh half sob. Josh had most likely thrown them away this morning and he doubted Josh would let him call the doctor for more.

“Fuck.” He muttered as he left the bathroom to pull on some clean clothes. He could here noises coming from the kitchen area and he figured that was where Josh was. Pulling his cell phone from the pocket of his discarded jeans on the floor he sat on the edge of the bed and dialed Chad’s number.

“Jared?” Chad’s voice answered after only one ring.

“Hi man.” Jared said evenly.

“How are you?” Chad asked with concern. “What happened yesterday after I left?”

“I’m fine, like I told you I would be. Nothing happened. I told Jensen that we couldn’t see each other anymore.” Jared said as an ache knifed through his heart at the mention of leaving Jensen.

“Idiot.” Chad alleged. “You love him.”

Jared shrugged. “If you love them, leave them…or some shit like that.”

“Bullshit! Jared don’t do this, you don’t deserve this…just please let us help you.” Chad pleaded.

“Can’t. This is the way it has to be to keep everyone safe.” Jared vowed.

“Everyone except yourself.” Chad pointed out angrily.

“I can take care of myself. Please don’t worry. Look I got to go, but I’ll see you at work tomorrow, okay?”

“Be careful.” Chad said resigned.

“Always.” Jared replied as he hung up and walked out into the living room. He couldn’t exactly hide in the bedroom all day. Josh was eating at the counter working on his laptop.

Josh looked up as Jared entered. “Good morning love.” He greeted as he walked over to Jared and placed his arms around the man, pulling him into a kiss.

Jared winced as Josh’s arms went around him. They were pressing on his injuries which caused him to gasp quietly. Josh didn’t pull back but took advantage of that moment to thrust his tongue into Jared’s mouth. He raised one hand to the back of Jared’s head to keep him from pulling back.

When they broke for air Jared quickly stepped back from Josh’s hold and sat down on the couch hoping Josh would leave him alone.

Josh walked back to his computer and said, “Your mother called and said she would stop by around noon.”

Jared sat in misery on the couch for almost twenty minutes staring at the turned off TV before he heard the doorbell ring. He saw Josh walk down the short hallway to open it.

“Hello Diane.” Josh greeted as he opened the door and ushered her inside.

“Hello. It’s such a beautiful day out. Perhaps we should go for a walk later.” Diane looked around and her eyes settled on Jared sitting on the couch. “Well that’s quite the black mark, must you hit him so hard? Do you know what having an always injured fiancé will do to your reputation? Or mine?”

Josh sneered. “Frankly, how I treat him hasn’t been any of your business since you whored him out to me.”

Diane sighed, “Really Josh, must you use such coarse language?”

“I didn’t have a great day yesterday because of your son’s antics.” Josh said looking at Jared across the room who had yet to even look at the two of them. “But it seems no matter how hard I hit him I can’t seem to beat the obedience into him.”

“That he gets from his father. So nothing my son did has put in jeopardy our deal has it?” Diane asked slightly scared.

“No, but I think we need to move this wedding sooner.” Josh said. Jared needed a shorter leash and after they were married he could have more claim on Jared to make sure he stayed in line and compliant by his side where he belonged.

“That can be arranged. When were you thinking?” Diane asked.

“Next Saturday. That will give us a little over a week to finalize plans.” Josh stated.

“Great.” Diane said excitedly. She moved over to the dinning room table and set the folders she was carrying down.

“Jared, come join your mother.” Josh said as he moved over to the counter where his lap top was resting. He had work to do and he could do it here so he could hear what was being said yet be out of their way.

Jared eased himself stiffly off the couch, his body aching, and sat down across the table from his mother staring at the table top. He gave his mother no greeting.

“So many plans to make.” Diane stated as she opened her folder and began to look through the pages. She pulled out some and set them down for Jared to see. “This is the church that Josh picked out; the Monastery of Saint Bernard de Clairvaux. His parents were married here and I think it’s the perfect spot for a wedding.” His mother gushed.

Jared looked at the picture set before him of what looked like a medieval castle and only nodded his head slightly.

Not fazed by Jared’s lack of interest she continued on, “And the color scheme is just going to be silver. Also with lots of white lights; lots of shine and shimmer; like this.” His mother held up picture after picture of colors and lights and decoration lace. She told him how things were going to be decorated inside the church. Jared looked at the pictures put before him but never made comment. “We got silk table cloth and crystal table settings. We decided to have only a couple kids walking down the isle before you guys. Josh’s niece and nephew; little Kara will throw white rose petals and little Edward will be carrying your rings. We want the attention focused on the two of you so there won’t be any groomsmen or anything.”

Jared sighed and looked at the clock. Even though his mother had just arrived, he hoped she was leaving soon.

“Let’s see what else?” Diane asked out loud as she sorted though more of her papers.

“We also have the classical musicians and the preacher picked.” Josh added.

“Oh yes! And the banquet hall at the Setai Hotel will look absolutely stunning also. The guest list is completed but invitations will have to be sent out soon. This will just be an absolutely amazing wedding.” Diane exclaimed happily. “Now my dear, I can’t decide which tux would look better on you. What do you think?”

Jared looked at the three pictures of the tuxes laid out before him. They were all white and all of them screamed expensive. Josh came over to stand next to Jared looking down at the pictures also.

“Pick one son.” Diane encouraged.

Jared shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t really give a shit.

“Jared!” Jared jumped at Josh’s yell. “Pick one! You’re the one that wanted to be involved in the plans, so stop acting like a child and pick one.”

Jared reached over and slid the tux he thought was most ugly over to his mother. “This one.” He said quietly. His mother nodded and started to put all the papers away.

“Well I need to get going and get those invitations mailed out today.” Diane stated as she stood up.

“Thanks for coming.” Josh said as he turned to Jared. “Oh, I also thought we could honeymoon in Italy. I made reservations at the Villa D’Este. It will be a relaxing week.” Josh stated as he leaned down and gave Jared’s cheek a quick kiss. “That reminds me I will have to call and move it earlier.” Josh said to himself as he began to walk Diane to the door.

That made Jared curious. He turned to look at the both of them and asked, “Why?”

Josh smiled. “Oh we decided not to have a Christmas wedding. We are getting married next Saturday.” Josh declared as he turned away to walk Diane to the door.

Jared turned back around so they couldn’t see the tears that fell from his eyes.

Jensen woke to the smell of coffee brewing. He rolled onto his back and stretched. He could hear Chris and Steve’s muffled talking through the closed bedroom door. Dragging his body out of bed, he glanced out the window surprised to see how sunny it was. He guessed by the position of the sun it had to be after noon already.

Walking out of his room to the living room, the talking stopped when he laid eyes on his two friends. “Morning.” Jensen stated with a yawn.

“Morning princess.” Chris said with a roll of his eyes. “We weren’t sure you were ever going to wake up.”

“Yeah, Chris contemplated coming in to give you a kiss.” Steve added.

Jensen slumped down on the couch next to Steve and sighed, looking at his friends in melancholy. “Do you think Jared’s okay?”

Chris and Steve exchanged a look before Steve said, “I’m sure he is Jensen. The kid said he would be okay with Josh right?”

Jensen snorted, “Sure, if you call getting beat up almost everyday okay.” Jensen leaned forward and put his head in his hands. “What am I going to do?”

Chris sighed, “I don’t think there is much you can do buddy.”

Jensen’s head snapped up. “I have to do something! The man I love is currently living with a monster.”

“Well short of kidnapping him I don’t think there is much you can do. This was Jared’s choice.” Chris reminded him.

“Can we do that?” Jensen asked with wide eyes.

“Kidnap him?” Steve asked taken aback. “No! Not unless you want the three of us to end up in jail for the rest of our lives.”

Jensen sighed. “Maybe I should go over there and talk with Josh or something, maybe offer him money or…”

“Yeah there’s a great idea. Let’s go buy Jared.” Chris rolled his eyes and continued, “Besides if the guy lives here, I don’t think he is lacking on money.”

“Jensen.” Steve said gently. “There is nothing you can do right now. Just let things cool down for a few days and then try to talk with Jared again.”

Jensen nodded unhappily, “Okay.”

“Good.” Chris slapped Jensen on the back. “Now let’s get out of here and go see some sun and beach.” He got up and pulled Jensen up and toward the door with Steve following behind them.

Chris followed his friend out the door only to run smack into his back as he came to a dead stop. He staggered forward slightly as Steve ran into his back. Chris looked over Jensen’s shoulder to see what stopped him dead and he was met with the site of two men standing in front of them as one locked the door next to Jensen’s. It didn’t take a genius to figure out who they were.

One side of the younger man’s face was cut and bruised and he stared at Jensen with an expression that reminded Chris of deer in the headlights look. The older man, dressed nicely in a suit, after finishing with the lock turned around and caught sight of their group standing there. Chris looked over at Steve who had come to stand next to him and could see the same realization on his face. So this was Jared and Josh.

“Hello again.” Josh greeted pleasantly as he walked the few feet to stand in front of Jensen. “Jensen was it?” he asked with a small smile as he cocked his head.

Jensen nodded still clearly in shock.

Steve stepped forward and said, “Yeah. I’m Steve and this is Chris; were here visiting Jensen for a while.”

“I see. I’m Josh.” He stated and turned around to pull Jared to his side. “This is Jared.”

Jared who had been happy to stay in the background was startled as he was pulled forward into the group. His heart broke at the sadness and pain in Jensen’s eyes. “Hi.” He said meekly as he looked at the two strange men who he guessed were Jensen’s friends that he talked about so much. He was surprised to see them; Jensen hadn’t mentioned anything about them coming.

“Jared, have you met Jensen yet? He is our new neighbor.” Josh introduced as he put an arm around Jared’s shoulders.

Chris narrowed his eyes slightly as he watched Josh. There was something off about the tone he had used when he said that. Surely he couldn’t know about Jensen and Jared. He felt a wave of sympathy go through him as Jared shook his head, his eyes held fear.

Jensen saw the fear also because he schooled his emotions and mumbled, “It’s nice to finally meet you.”

“That’s some bruise you got there Jared.” Chris blurted out but looked at Josh. He could see all four men tense at those words. “Did you get in an accident?”

Jared’s eyes widened in shock, he saw Steve shoot a glare at Chris, saw Jensen pale, and felt Josh tighten his arm around him.

“Bike accident.” Josh remarked calmly.

Chris nodded. “You got to be careful on bikes especially with all those crazy assholes around here.”

Jared nodded slightly. He was starting to sweat from nerves. Had Jensen told his friends the truth? He hoped not, but with the way Chris was sort-of glaring at Josh, arms crossed over his chest…he just didn’t know for sure.

“Well we don’t want to keep you; we were just heading out to the beach.” Steve said shortly as he stepped up and put a hand on Jensen’s back; urging him forward.

“Sure.” Josh remarked casually with a slight smirk. “We were just heading out to pick out some wedding cake.”

Jensen stopped short once again and whipped his head to look back at Josh and Jared. “What?” he choked out heart dropping into his stomach.

“My fiancé and I are getting married next Saturday. If you’re still in town you should come. It’s going to be the event of the year.” Josh smiled as he pulled Jared, who looked like he was about to cry, by the hand down the hall. After a few feet Jared looked over his shoulder to look at Jensen; his eyes filled with sadness and apology.

The three men stood there in silence. Chris looked over to his friend, who looked absolutely devastated. “Jensen…”

Jensen just shook his head, tears falling down his face as he turned and went back into his apartment shutting the door behind him.

“Shit.” Steve said as he stepped up to Chris and wrapped his arms around his lover’s waist. “Now what do we do?”

Chris sighed and returned the embrace. “I don’t know, but I think were going to need to extend our stay. Jensen needs us.”

Steve could only nod in reply.

*******~~~*******

Josh rested against the wall in the elevator with Jared next to him. He knew Jensen was the man Jared had been with. He had a gut feeling it was him since he had first met Jensen but now he was sure. He could tell that there was a lot of tension between his fiancé and his new neighbor; plus the looks on both Jensen and Jared’s faces were easy to read.

He wasn’t sure how they had managed to get so close in just a week but he certainly wasn’t going to let Jared anywhere near that man anymore. No way. Jared was his and by his side is where he would stay; he would make sure of it.
