ok, so left home about 9ish and arrived at the Federal Triangle Metro stop. The parade ran along Constitution Ave. and the street festival (Matsuri) was along Pennsylvania and 12th. Found a spot in the lower level of the Ronald Reagan building to change into Aku, and then went upstairs to enjoy the festival.
which basically didn't happen......it was like Otakon all over again. with the crowds and tourists stopping me every minute or so asking for a picture, i basically was stuck in the area
(see blue dots) near where i went to change at (stopping for pic, walk a little, rinse/repeat.) i saw a few other cosplayers walking around but couldn't get to them.
also, the wind gusts did not help. a couple of times the mask almost blew off my face, but it help up pretty well when it was calm...but it was way too windy to venture out to the festival area. so after a couple hours i went back to change out of costume, which was actually kind of funny because i tripped a few steps from the bottom on the stairs and had to take one big step to not fall on my face. after a few gasps and a hushed moment, i took a quick bow (granted, this is all in costume,) and everyone just laughed and applauded...good fun.
after getting out of costume i walked around the festival for a bit and then went home...exhausted.
a pox on windy weather :p
