Haven't seen it, but I read some pretty bad stuff about it so far.
I got from the clips and trailers I'd seen that the movie quality wasn't really all that great, so I don't have my hopes up. Between the seriously stilted lines in the trailers (and the dreadfully cheesy text they can't escape), and RPattz's strange constipated face when he says his family is not like other vampires, I've been betting on a pretty crappy movie overall for a while.
But all reviews I've read so far said that the Rob/Kris chemistry really saves it. Was seeing Rob and Kristen kiss worth it, though?
Yes... the chemistry is pretty palpable on some parts. More so when it's just Edward/Bella... but holy crap Juls. The movie could've been SOOOO much better if they kept the editing stuff minimal. I felt too overwhelmed sometimes from the background stuff, i.e. music. But I thought Kristen wasn't that bad and the tender moments between Bella and Edward (which weren't THAT many) suits Pattinson more so than the "I want to kill you" behavior. It's tough to critic something that you LOVE. But at the end of the day, if I'm speaking strictly from the point of view of an outsider, the movie could've done better.
I saw it last night (10:45pm-No squeeeing!), and you know, I liked it. Yes, it could have been better, and RPattz with his constant "torture face",(even though having read Midnight Sun, I know where it comes from), and KStewart with her "huffing/twitch/nervous" face, that kind of annoyed me, hopefully Edward will be more relaxed in New Moon (Summit/Stewart/Pattinson sent an email, and their going forward w/ the sequel cuz it made 32.7 mil on FRIDAY incl. midnight showings). This movie was most def made for book fans, but I went in knowing it is what it is, approached it like that and was pleasantly suprised! Know what else I liked? Jacob! That kid rocked, and so set it up perfectly for the sequel, and Rosalie with the hardcore BITCHNESS rocked! And the kiss.............HOT DAMN! I saw the whole her being attached to his face thing, but the laying down.............................WHOOOOOOOOOOO! I plan on seeing it again, when I'm not so keyed up about it, but all in all, good times!
The movie was pretty good IMO; I posted this ~epic~ review on my LJ and although I mentioned more negatives about it than positives, it was pretty good overall. A lot less cheesie than the book, which is what I was hoping for.
RPattz looked constipated throughout the entire thing, but hey, at least the kissing scenes were hot. XD
