Smallville "Pro"-novel

Feb 28, 2007 11:48

I ordered comics at Amazon a while ago, and in order to get shipping for free, I needed to make the order 2€ more. So I browsed the really cheap stuff and my eyes fell on second-hand Smallville tie-in novels. Now, I'm schizophrenically snobby when it comes to tie-ins. I love fanfiction, which is really just the same, and when fanfiction is ( Read more... )

Hee :P It's one of the few SV tie-in novels that I own! I heard that it didn't originally include Lana, but the author was requested to give her a part

Oh, so Lana gets a part? I sort of expected she'd crop up somewhere...(I've only read half of it so far).

I'd bought several of the tie in books and that was the best one of the ones I'd had.

Some of them were so bad I maybe read a chapter before giving up the book as so hopelessly bad it was unreadable.

I'd never have bought it if it hadn't saved me the 5€ shipping fee, but it's an amusing book (although I've read far better fanfiction.)

BAHAHAHAHA!! Ok, I admit that I know which book you are talking about and I almost bought it but changed my mind at the last minute...like, when I was in line to pay. And here I was hoping that there would be scenes like this.

I thought it'd be, you know, like S1 or something, but this is Devin Grayson thinking "I wonder how much gay I can get away with" or something. If you ever get it for free, it's worth reading the clex scenes, I can't say anything about the rest, because I don't read those parts ;D

I actually own a few SV novels, either gotten for free or really cheap, but City is the only one I read. The Clex moments were wonderful, but the parts with the scientist almost put me to sleep.

I don't read the parts with the scientist, but the clex scenes are lovely. I sort of wonder if Devin Grayson has ever written or is writing fanfiction - she's definitely aware it exists.

I think she has written Batman fanfic (of the slash variety). Or maybe I imagined that...

Ah, the infamous tie-in novel with the hot tub scene! I'd heard of this, but didn't know which one it was, so thank you. I may have to get this one.

The hot tub scene is just... I gaped at the book for a while, then shook with glee. I'm not sure how she got that through whoever okays these books, but yay for her.

I kind of want Devin Grayson to write for the show.

I read an interview with her once where she talked about the Clex, and how awesome it is, and how she had so much fun writing that novel, and how even though you can't make Lex and Clark kiss in something official, you can get them naked together in a hot tub. Which is why City is the only SV novel I own. Devin Grayson seems really cool.
