Has it really been three months?

I haven't posted anything since March! And I haven't really participated in fandom, either. I've read a bit of fic here and there: quite a lot of Blake's 7, but it didn't result in me wanting to write any, also everything good there is for certain pairings in Discworld/Pratchett fandom (namely: City Watch, and some Witches... and I would have ( Read more... )

A bit late to the party - I've been off livejournal lately - but congratulations! Yale *is* a big deal and it's a wonderful opportunity. Like the others said, it's a very convenient location - only about an hour to NYC by train, and not too far from Boston, either. Washington, DC is only about 3 or 4 hours away as well, so take the opportunity to visit the capitol! My great-aunt was a professor there and she really thrived on the opportunities that the location offered.

Watch out for the rough winters - yes, winter gear will be necessary - and also the summers - it can get muggy (hot+humid) and there are some bugs that can be annoying. Also if you're out in the countryside, watch out for ticks - they carry Lyme disease - and even snakes. My aunt lived out in a small town not far from New Haven but far enough out for wildlife - she loved seeing the squirrels and deer and birds, but always wore rubber boots (what the British call wellingtons or wellies) because of snakes, just in case. (Unfortunately I don't remember which snakes - she died about seven years ago.)

Feel free to ask me any questions you want!
