Read the wikipedia entry on Bernice Summerfield earlier (to finally understand what century she is from), and this sentence made me grin:

"At times she falsely claims to have a degree from Heidelberg University."

I didn't know that, but it makes me like Benny even more.

In other news I'm vexed that there is an adaptation in which Fiona Shaw plays Richard the Second, and it even looks good (well, largely it looks pretty, and extremely genderqueer and full of Richard/Bolingbroke), but apparently it is neither on the internet nor commercially available even though it was filmed for TV in the nineties. There is a dearth of good shakespeare adaptations on streaming sites. Otoh, I discovered bits from Ian McKellen's performance of Edward II from 1969. I didn't think 1969 was quite ready for Edward kissing Gaveston on stage (with lots of tongue by the looks of it) but apparently it was. However, I dare not look at the clip of Edward's murder/execution because it has to be gruesome. That scene makes me flinch even when reading it.
