Tonight was a pretty great night. Jocelyn and I went over to Phil's place for a potluck Thanksgiving dinner. We ended up bringing a few pies, some stuffing, and some cheddar-dinner rolls. As of now I'm ridiculously full. But it was nice to get together with another twenty or so people and have a family-ish dinner. It was warm, happy, and also it was nice to be with a good number of people I didn't know, as well. I think this was the first time I ate most of what was served at a Thanksgiving dinner--usually I'm far too picky. But this was good.
On another note: I saw Harry Potter on Friday. It was pretty good.
Major problems with the movie included:
-Too slapsticky at times for the sake of the gimmick (destroying the dark atmosphere set up)
-Where was Snape? I think he had (maybe) 3 lines
-Dumbledore tried to THROTTLE Harry. That's not what I remember reading. Ever.
-Moaning Myrtle tried to have bathtub ghost sex with Harry Potter. Creepy.
-Voldemort was not scary. Instead of playing him as incredibly menacing and scary, it was more like "A Night at the Theatre with Lord Voldemort"
Otherwise I liked it. Even if the girl who plays Hermione acts with her eyebrows alone.
Jordyn might be getting a kitten for Hanukkah. I think that'll be good for her (as well as my Mom and Midnight). I'm sure the house is pretty lonely without Angel...another kitten might be what's needed.
Homework awaits...as does Mario Kart DS.
