I concur. Although in the Sweeney Todd vs. Anton Chigurh one, I figured Depp would win because he's Johnny Depp but I think Javier Bardem would beat his skinny ass into nothing, especially in that role. I don't really care for either film, but come on.
I'm not a huge fan of Johnny Depp. Never was and probably never will be! No Country was good for what it is, though I won't be falling over with excitement when it wins all the Oscars that you know it will. It's probably one of the least offensive movies I've seen in a long time, though, hahaha. That's a category of awesome in itself.
There Will be Blood, on the other hand!!! :| (PT Anderson is one of my favourite directors and I'm not usually one for cult-followings)
I wanna see There Will be Blood. I think I was just frustrated with No Country for Old Men, but I have to hand it to them for some very well done suspense and all that. Sweeney Todd I thought was just a masturbation-fest for Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. It was really just "Look how amazing an actor/singer I am!" and "Look at my incredible darkness and direction!" and I just didn't feel it. Too easy.
yeah. After the last scene the whole theatre just sat in total silence for a minute til I eventually said, "OKAYYYYY so uh. I need to pee again." It definitely built up well, but my experience was probably influenced by the over excited and gasping 15-year old I saw it with.
What, you thought (insert title) film directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in a dark and gothic Victorian setting was masturbation? What would make you say that?
And I agree about No Country. It was a disapointing film and, though suspenseful, didn't hold my attention otherwise.
