why am I writing more of this I have a midterm tomorrow and I need to study.

??? Night Foggy Souji leaned back in the seat of the limousine, content to just listen to the faint amount of road noise that entered the vehicle. Igor, opposite him, had greeted him, then fell silent as well. Margaret had smiled in greeting, then resumed her study of the compendium.
"I learned something new today," he said finally, and the shock that had run through him that morning, when he ran into Naoto at the shrine, was still evident in his voice. It had been... years, truly, since the last time that he'd learned something new about any of his friends.
"I see," Igor replied, and Souji watched as he exchanged a glance with Margaret. "Do you regret your choice?"
He closed his eyes at the stab of sorrow, the memory of the day Nanako was put to rest beside her mother still sharp and vivid. "No," he spat out. "Never. It's just... I don't know how much longer I can go on like this. I don't know if I can stand meeting my friends again, and have them know nothing about me. So I guess... I'm going to have to get things right this time, even if I don't have my planner anymore."
"Oh? You've lost your item, then?" Igor threw another look at Margaret, who smiled faintly.
"I didn't lose it," Souji clarified, then snorted in reluctant amusement. "Naoto stole it. Again."
"I see," Igor said. "That would explain..." He trailed off into a mutter under his voice.
He straightened at that. "Wait. You said that you had another visitor, one whose fate had changed abruptly. It's Naoto, isn't it?" Naoto was the only one who ever figured out what he was doing, though some iterations he thought that his uncle might have suspicions. But she had never found out this early, before she even gained her Persona. This large of a change... he didn't know how he was supposed to continue. Be cautious? Throw his cautions to the wind? The large deviations he'd made had always ended badly. Would this time be any different?
Margaret's smile had widened. "Perhaps," she said, drawing him out of his thoughts. "Perhaps."
